Back to Windows XP, I used this http://windowsxp.mvps.org/defaultbrowser.htm to set PFF as default browser.
This utility no longer runs on Vista: any hint?
Thanks!

"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate."
So, it's good... almost perfect!
Just a single issue so long: whenhever I try to open a .url link (Internet Explorer favorites) the page open up correctly in Firefox, but I also get this error

Fix this and you are the man!!
Thanks again!
Seems as though you might not have sufficient permissions to write the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\http\shell\open\command
Have a check.

It's set correcttly to ...\FirefoxPortable.exe -url "%1"
Uhmm, what is the -url switch I see? I cant find any mention to it
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Command_line_arguments
I removed it from just HKLM\..\http\... but I keep on getting the same problem...
it used to be -url "<url>" but it must have changed.
I'll check.
Edit: It is set to that on mine. Just quickly, open regedit and open HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.URL
Set the (Default) key to FirefoxHTML

Nope! Same problem...
Another note: if I "run it as admin" ( http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/8590/asadmingd9.gif ) all the .url shortcut become icon-less.
Any help would be still appreciated, many thanks.
If anyone has a Vista plaform which I might be able to access via VNC, please post.
Alternatively, John, if you have Vista, could you try it?

I'll take a gander when I get a chance. And I gotta shoot you an email about it anyway as I'm considering adding it as a built in feature to the platform and was hoping to tap you for help working on it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Good news all round then.
You'd better do it soon as I'm going on camp on Monday.

Just a quick 'n' dirty workaround: set Firefox as default in control panel. Portable Firefox will become default as long as it's open when you try to open an associate protocol.
