Hi,
I have decided to use normal Thunderbird on my home computer and Portable Thunderbird on a USB stick at work to view RSS feeds.
Is it possible to sync the the Portable Thunderbird to my home computer when I get home? Is it as simple as what is on the Support page - "Copying you local Thunderbird settings" just in reverse?
Thanks in advance,
Phil
it should be that simple.
To do it automagically (without copying files manually) grab Libertà PUSS

After studying the handbook and trying to search here and on Liberta site I can't see having initially copied Portable Thunderbird settings to Thunderbird locally how do you update? Is it Update and emty folder first???
Thanks
Roger
Update your home TB from your portable TB, use Update with TB Portable as the first item and your local one as the 2nd item.
Hmm, Steve, we need to update the handbook.

Hi, I use portable thunderbird mostly on my mac laptop, but I got the cross-platform version for versatility... now I want to be able to sync after use. I found PUSS, but I have not found a version that works on my mac (os10.4.8; Old style processor). The one I found is a windows version. Anything to make this work for me besides switching to windows?
Steve has 2.0 ready and he might be able to get a Mac version, though I doubt it.

we'll have to see But seriously, I have been planning on cross platform releases for a while but as 7zip isn't cross platform, that's slowed me down. However if you didn't want that functionality then I certainly could. Thats the beauty of writing in C++/wxWidgets.

Well, I'm definitely undereducated in all this, an end consumer with a long post here...
I have just used the cross platform thunderbird for the last 2 days (had mac version for months). I want to be able to sync, but not necessarily everything. I just created a new folder on my portable, and found it already created on my laptop. I found that messages downloaded to my laptop appeared on my thumb as already read... What it seems to me is that when my new version opens, it syncs automatically. Now this is too much, as I want my thumb to not get crowded! I want all my archives and lists to come to my lap-top, but not onto my space limited thumb. What I really need to sync is JUST AND ONLY my SENT folder. the rest of it will happen as I download by leaving mail on the web until erased, so it downloads both places. then I erase from the thumb all non-personals to save space...
P.S., I do not know what 7zip is... (or does)
Any thoughts for me on this will be much appreciated!

is a archiver.
And there is a portable version...

I have a similar issue in that I want to only sync some things but not others. I have downloaded Puss but haven't had any sucess using it. I have tried to sync the mail folder of Portable (source) to the mail folder of desktop (destination), but Puss just hangs.
1. Does the mail folder file structure (subfolders) have to be the same? I have more accounts downloading to the desktop version than I do in the Portable version, and I wonder if that's the problem.
2. Could someone please post a link to the Puss manual? I can't find one.
Thanks!

I think many will be grateful for your mentioning this.

Thanks Rusty! Really, I love everything about this program, It's look, simplicity, size, what it says it will do... except, it did not do anything when I asked it to sync... I'm using a mac lap-top (os10.4.8 ) thunderbird and a portable mac thunderbird on a thumbdrive. Anyone have any help for me? many thanks!
