Updater looses all my apps

Hey there, I used portable apps with about 30 apps for some years now. Today when I started the launcher again (usually I just use shortcuts) it asked me to update the launcher, which I allowed. After that the launcher restarted and asked me to install apps from the list of available apps. I checked none of the boxes because I already have installed any app that I need at the moment.
After that none of my apps are shown any more in the launcher. They are still there and I can still use them via shortcuts and the exe's but the won't show up in the launcher anymore. This is bad because like this I can't update them.

I have a backup and when I just delete the updater folder and use the old one everything works again but I imediatly get asked to update again, so this is no realy option either...
why is this happening and how can I fix this?

Btw I am using windows 7 x64 professional.

Likely Renamed PortableApps Directory

You likely renamed the PortableApps directory to something else. It's supposed to be Start.exe within a given directory (usually root) and then a PortableApps and Document directory next to it in the same directory. When you add apps, it'll add them to the proper place. But, when you upgrade, it doesn't understand you renamed it and will install the platform back to the proper PortableApps directory.

Just rename it back and it'll be fine. But rename the existing PortableApps directory that the upgrade created to something like PortableAppsDuplcate just to be safe so you don't accidentally delete anything.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thank you so much. Thats it!

Thank you so much. Thats it! There was an updater folder inside my portable apps root folder with the start.exe inside. It defenitly (99%) wasn't me though so perhaps the update process had an error here?!

I fixed it by copying the start.exe back into my root folder and deleting the updater folder. Now everything works again. Thanks again for the fast help.
