Use any firefox version with portable java 7

I need to use Firefox with Java 7.
But I can only put the version 8 of Java working with Firefox.

Does anyone can give me a matrix compatibility or something to get this working?

Dropped

We have dropped support for Java 7 portably coinciding with Oracle pushing Java 8 automatically to all users back in January. You could manually install Java 7 locally and copy the files into a jPortable 8 install to get it working with Firefox Portable for another few weeks if you'd like. But Oracle is dropping Java 7 in April at which point Firefox won't let Java 7 run since it's insecure anyway.

Any browser-based product that doesn't support Java 8 yet should be considered discontinued, unsupported, and insecure.

Solved

Thank you John. I've got the problem solved.

Regarding your considerations, I am worried.
Will Firefox disable Java 7 after April?

Because I need this for my work.
We deal with a software that only runs with Java 7 (Java 8 does not have "Medium Security").

By Default

Yes, by default Firefox will disable access to Java 7 from that date onward. Additionally, Java itself has a built-in expiry date when installed. After the April final update of Java 7, it will receive no further security patches, so it should be considered insecure from that date onward. Even if a security bug comes out the next day, the official fix will be to upgrade to Java 8.

You can manually enable access to unsafe extensions in Firefox within the Add-Ons screen by switching Never Activate to Ask To Activate. Always Activate is disabled by design.

I would suggest only using a copy of Firefox Portable with a manually updated jPortable 7 to access this outdated software. You should not configure your primary browser to use insecure plugins.

Keep this in mind when you are trusting this piece of software to continue running after Java 7 is discontinued. When a security exploit is released for Java 7 after its end of life date, you should assume that the software you are using in browser via Java 7 now has complete access to your machine and network.

Yes, I need to have that in

Yes, I need to have that in mind.
I deal with some big companies which can be susceptible to this security issues if they continue to work as they are now after the end of Oracle support.

Thank you.

Way to go, Kev!

The first step in resolving a problem is to acknowledge having one. We're proud of ya, buddy! (No, no, that's OK... we'll take your word for it.)

(So, John--will the new forum have a "flag" function? Wink )

JPortable 7 Updated

Almost forgot, I posted the latest version of jPortable 7 to our SourceForge project as well for folks who need it. I'll be posting the last Java 7 release when it's done as well. It won't fix the overall issue, but it will at least keep you as secure as possible.
