Apparently with Firefox 38, there's some nasty DRM stuff I'd like to avoid - there's a DRM/EME free build at:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/38.0/win32-EME-...
Is there a way I can put this in, or will this be portableified sometime? Thanks.

It's easily disabled by selecting Menu (Hamburger thing) - Options - Content and unchecking the "Play DRM Content" box. You can then close Firefox and delete the gmp-eme-adobe file within your FirefoxPortable\Data\profile folder if you'd like to remove it. It won't be re-downloaded and installed if you've unchecked the box.

Firefox offers an EME free build at http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/firefox/releases/38.0/win32-EME-free/
Is the new Portable version 38 EME free (please say yes) or not?
As I already said, we bundle the standard build. If you like, you can uncheck the box and delete those files. That's all the EME free version is. That checkbox is unchecked and hidden. The EME stuff is downloaded on the fly and not bundled within Firefox itself. You can delete it and uncheck the box and Firefox proper is basically the same thing.
We will not be bundling the EME free version as it's a waste of resources.
