Frankly it looks like someone scavenged it from the Geocities of the nineties. Is this going to be permanent? I don't mind it that much on the website but in the launcher it would clash with the rest operating system.
(Just went to download something today, noticed the rather anachronistic logo and went to search about it on the forums. I found a thread and see other people praised it. Have people changed their taste in aesthetics overnight? What is going on?)
I think it would clash a bit in the platform and we generally only commemorate specific traditional non-nation-specific holidays in the platform's UI itself with the small PortableApps.com circle mod (heart for Valentine's day, fireworks for New Year's, etc).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks. I thought it would be a nice touch to commemorate yesterday.

It is in recognition of the recent ruling on same-sex marriage by the Supreme Court of the United States: http://nytimes.com/2015/06/27/us/supreme-court-same-sex-marriage.html
Oh. I see. And what does that have to do with portable apps?
It has absolutely nothing do with portable apps, or PortableApps.com.
With that said:
It was for the site to commemorate the ruling as reddit, IMGUR, and many other tech sites did on the web and social media: http://www.inc.com/marli-guzzetta/companies-gay-marriage.html
