Flash on a USB drive

Up until this point Ive been getting away with "installing" a portable Firefox on the desktop of work computers. Lately they have been using Deep Freeze, and Im getting tired of updating every single day, and of course b/c of admin credentials (which I dont have) I cant update plugins like flash.

I am going to buy a USB drive and just run portable FF off of this, so I can keep it updated.

My question: Do I install flash on the thumbdrive? Will Firefox detect that version of flash? Or will it look for the version that is installed on the C drive? That would be a hassle, because portable FF with outdated flash will often crash, and they dont bother updating plugins at all.

The .xpi link I was never

The .xpi link I was never able to install. It says that the download was corrupt.

The other option that this link points to is the portable apps 0.1 version flash installer from 2008. Is this what you were suggesting I install?

No xpi any more

Adobe does not let anyone repackage flash any more. I think meant to follow the 'geeky' portion of the instructions. Briefly under Windows XP

1. Download the latest version of flash on-line installer (see CAUTION) from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ and install.
2. Find local installed files.
3. Then copy the five or six (name similar to one in link you gave) files to the proper portable directory PortableApps -> FirefoxPortable -> Data -> plugins
4. Uninstall (Add or RemoveProgram) Flash from hard drive.

I usually don't bother installing Firefox locally just have to find where Flash is installed. Just checked it went to WINDOWS -> system32 -> Macromed -> Flash. Can uninstall once copy files to Firefox.

CAUTION !! When selecting installer watch carefully for options to install extras like McAfee Security Scan.

(edited after I checked)

Hmmn, instructions, instructions

I think it has come up more than once recently that that bit is out of date, maybe someone should check it. Not me, I don't use FF that way
