I made another donation and I saw that the list of sponsors is updated to 2014-08-21 and includes about a hundred names.
I have simple curiosity: is it possible that with millions of users there are so few sponsors? People are so stingy and want everything immediately but does not offer anything in return?

The page only lists sponsors of the platform. Lots more people make just straight donations to PortableApps.com to help with hosting and other expenses. Donations pay for hosting relatively consistently at the moment, but don't pay of the debt from the previous years of operating the site yet (bandwidth and hosting used to be lots more expensive).
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
