Compilers

I am very surprised to see that the list of apps does not include a compiler for C++. Even a command-line compiler could work, but, of course, a good IDE is preferable. To me, a good C++ IDE is the most essential app that I want to carry with me on a USB stick.

An IDE for Visual Basic would also be nice. Preferably, it could both compile and interpret code.

They're in semi-permanent beta

They're in semi-permanent beta e.g.
Orwell Dev-C++ Portable 5.11 Development Test 1
https://portableapps.com/node/32477

there are a number of other ways to compile C++ portably. I'm sure someone else more familiar with each will be along shortly. I'm just letting you know that just because something isn't on the Official list doesn't mean it isn't usable. e.g. the well known Cygwin and MSYS / MinGW tool sets appear there too.

CodeLite

I have just found CodeLite, a "free, open source, cross platform C, C++, PHP and JavaScript IDE". I haven't used it yet but it seems good from what I've seen. It is being actively developed, with its last stable build released on 2015-05-10. Also, there seems to be "weekly" "preview" build. What do you think?

New to Me

I had discovered it just minutes before I posted about it. I hadn't tried it, so it is obviously not my favourite.

I had no idea that there was a node concerning it. It isn't on the list of apps at https://portableapps.com/apps.

Despite what the first post of the thread says, there was an issue with the installation. I do not have Administrator rights, so two attempts at writing to the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\codelite\settings failed.
