I installed the Portable Apps Platform onto my flash drive, as well as the Firefox browser. However, the graphics program I like (Faststone) offers its own portable program, and is not available as a download here at this site. I tried simply copying the folder onto my flash drive, but the PAP does not see this in the flash drive and list it in the index/start menu.
Is there any way to install a non-PAP app onto the USB drive, and have PAP see it so I can have a shortcut in the start menu?
It will add apps automatically, you just have to ensure they're in the expected location:
https://portableapps.com/support/platform#addingotherapps
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Got it. Thanks. Ive always just installed portable apps onto the desktop before, but Im getting fed up with fighting their policies, and they dont update the apps or plugins more than once a year, usually much less than that. So usb drive for me it is---until they close up the USB ports.
Thanks.
I can't get this to work for Krita.
The path for my PortableApps platform is: K:\PortableApps\PortableApps.com
I've copied the installed Krita directory to: K:\PortableApps
However, nothing at all appears in the PAP for Krita. The actually path for the .exe itself is: K:\PortableApps\Krita\bin\krita.exe, and the application launches and runs fine from there.
Any suggestions?
It's in \bin, it only looks for apps in X:\PortableApps\*\, any deeper sublevels (like bin) and it's a no-go.
Your exe is one too deep.
How would I fix that? This is how Krita installs itself:
Krita\bin
Krita\lib
Krita\share
There is nothing else in the Krita directory.
