Error Message: "Unable to connect to PortableApps.com to retrieve portables apps. Please try again later. [Access Forbidden (403)]"
I copied my PortableApps files from a workstation to a laptop. While both are on the same network MOST of the time I also have the ability to attach the laptop to a DSL line for external testing.
I made the mistake of updating the copied PortablesApps iteration on the laptop from the DSL line. Now I can only update either iteration of the files, workstation or laptop, from the DSL line. The ability to update apps seems to be tied to an IP or subnet range.
How can I get PortableApps to reset the IP restriction and let me again update from the larger network?

The platform maintains nothing about how it connects to the internet. It does allow you to manually set a proxy in Options, so check that tab.
The platform uses the Windows API components to handle downloads, which are governed by Internet Options within Windows, just like IE is. If you can get IE to connect, the platform will as well as long as you don't have a proxy configured.

Thanks! I control the proxy myself. I'm using transparent access to the internet.
I did set a proxy and get the same error message from PortableApps. To clarify the question I'm NOT getting a proxy block or I'd get a pop-up from the proxy. The message is (403) from portable apps. To me this indicates that the session is not authorized on PortableApps side.
Does that make sense?
It doesn't really. The server has no settings on it to deny any downloads of the app/updater database. And the platform doesn't do anything special internally. As I said, it uses the Windows APIs, so if IE is working, it should be. If IE isn't working, the platform won't either.
