Do i need to run FirefoxPortable executable or can i run firefox.exe directly from the app folder? I have pinned firefox portable to the taskbar, and since firefox.exe is a different process it opens a second icon on my taskbar

When you run firefox.exe directly, you loose the portability. It will create a new profile in AppData and won't use the one in FirefoxPortable/Data/profile etc
It would act, as if it was installed locally.
