[Feature Request] "Native Theme"

I was looking at an old themes topic [most of the links in it are dead, Sad ], and it got me thinking:

Would it be possible to have The menu show up in either Win10 or WinXP/98 style, without having to theme the menu [in essence, to make it "themeless" in style]?

The main reason I ask, is that I would like to have a more "native" look to my PApps, that would use whatever window theme is currently in use with my laptop. It's not really a major thing with me, tbh, but it would be nice to have for a local install.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think it would also take less resources than theming would, even if the menu takes up a negligible amount.

Sidenote: I apologize if I put this in the wrong category, but this was the closest I could get to a feature request sub-forum... :s

RE: category

I'd put it in the PortableApps.com Platform Support Forum
and put "[Feature Request]" in the topic.

P.S: If that is wrong please correct me.

Actually, that makes more

Actually, that makes more sense than where I [originally] put this! Lol!

May Not Be So Easy

Unfortunately, this wouldn't be as straight forward as us turning off themes. We don't use the standard Windows components to draw the menu as they would be inconsistent across Windows versions and may not work as well under Wine on Linux and Mac. So, I'd need to manually create a theme with all the possible bits of Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10 and then detect the local settings for each end emulate them. It's not impossible, but it would be quite a bit of work to accomplish properly.

The platform's look will be changing a bit in release 14 or 15 as I upgrade to a newer version of Delphi to properly support Windows 10 in High DPI mode, so I'll look into it as part of that. I've added it to the tracker as a possible future feature with a link back here so we have the whole set of notes accessible.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
