You can easily get rid of any plugins that you don't need and you can save space. It would probably be 1MB after eliminating all the plugins that you don't need and adding the History Sweeper plugin. Read the thread this links to and then go to the link on the first post to get the beta.

i downloaded it and opened it messed around with it and didnt like it because there arnt the same features as yahoo and aim it would be nice to have them but i guess i cant expect everything it is a good program for just talkin though

You can get rid of all of the other protocals with Miranda and it'll still run fine. For example, you can get rid of MSN and it'll still run Yahoo and AIM fine. Hell, you could even just run it with AIM and no Yahoo. Just delete the protocals in the plugins directory and you should be good to go.
Miranda is what you make it. It provides all the functionality you would ever want. The catch is that you have to do the work, you have to find the plugins, you have to change the settings; it's up to you to make it the best messenger system available. This is why it's not recommended for non-techies.
Another option is Trillian Anywhere which makes Trillian portable. I personally don't like it as it comes bundled with all the other features that I don't want. When I want a messenger system, that's all I want

id like to be able to hear voice and be able to watch friends webcams... and for the plug ins i have no idea where i would get those to enable the features. also i tried trillian and it sucks

This is not yet possible with any instant messenger that I know of that is portable.

Full Gaim 2.0 might not have vv when it's out; but post-2.0 will have it, they're trying to merge the code now.
