These are two applications I cannot do without and would love if they were made into a PortableApps application. Since Microsoft and Yahoo joined forces and there is one for GTalk already, if I had one for Live Messenger, I'd be in business and who can go without a printer? PDF Creator, (the open source one, not Foxit,) would be an excellent addition to these packages. Has anyone tried converting AVG anti-virus to PortableApps?
Now if it were only possible to do WMP10 and iTunes as well so I can play my purchased tracks...
Live Messenger, WMP10, AVG and itunes cant become portable, they are closed source.
PDF Creator could be difficult because it digs deep into the system. I dont know whether ts possible or not.

Live Messenger has already been made portable, but it doesn't install into PortableApps correctly when your try it. I'd like one that works with PortableApps though. Though it is closed to a point, they do have an EAK, like IE7, for it so it can't be too closed a source to do a simple install with onto the USB Key.
AVG already has a free version, so I don't see why it can't be done. And iTunes is also free, so it should be able to be done as well, unless there is a problem with the registry entries it creates.
PDF creator on the other hand installs as a driver of sorts, but it would be nice if it could be made into a PortableApp though. The same with Daemon Tools. I also wonder about ImgBurn and DVDIdle, if those can be done or not as well. DVDIdle would be hard if you have a registered version of it though.
with free?
Here it says under
3.USE RESTRICTIONS:
In addition, you must not reproduce the program, change it, modify it, decompile it, transfer it from a mechanical code, reanalyze it or create any deduced works therefrom by processing.
So any portable app would be a license violation.
Same with iTunes. Its a proprietary license.

I have Live messenger portable and it just runs fine from the portableapps launcher just put the .exe in a folder inside the portableapps directory.
It is not portable as it leaves many registry entries.

Well, im not talking about the normal live messenger I'm talking about the modified one, but if you refered to the last one then the registry traces stuff is new to me, at least it works on my iPod. Good thing I don't have it set to remmember my login details.
That messenger would be an illegal version.

Live Messanger
Use Gaim, its compatible with MSN, Live messanger, Yahoo, Jabba, Sametime, ICQ and all the rest and works a treat, its also a lot lighter than Live and this is a big issue when it comes ot USB speed.
PDF
Openoffice can create PDF's and does a fantastic job of this tool
If someone does not have OpenOffice, or dont want it, they can try https://www.pdfonline.com/convert_pdf.asp I've tried it, and it seemed ok.

As far as Live Messenger one goes, I've not been successful in getting that one to work even by just dropping it in a folder in my apps folder. The PDF thing you linked to above isn't what I need, I need to be able to create a PDF using the printer driver, this way I can print directly to it when I'm not near a printer and print that out when I do get near one.
I tried them once, and that was it. They didn't want to convert my document without giving it a watermark and it was to many pages so I never got it. Seriously, for this kind of stuff, just get OpenOffice.

Yea, the only Windows Live Messenger I've seen around is obviously illegal.
if you want txt or doc to pdf get pdf producer 1.3 at http://naramcheez.paraschopra.com/pdfproducer.php
But there’s no sense crying over every mistake,
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
Windows Live: Illegal so I won't talk about it. Use Miranda or Pidgin (formerly Gaim).
iTunes: People have tried and for some reason (which is beyond me) they are unable to make it portable. If you are interested, search around on this site for more details. HOWEVER. If you want to switch to another player (for example VLC, hosted on this site), you can burn your purchased music to a CDRW and then rip it back into mp3s or whatever you like. This gets rid of the digital rights management stuff.
Caution: This does not let you freely distribute your music. It makes it possible, but it is still illegal. Keep your music to yourself.
PDF Creator: There is a portable version of OpenOffice which creates PDFs. There is also a PDF making program called Scribus which will make PDFs. PortableApps.com hosts OpenOffice, and if you search here for Scribus, you should be able to find a link to it.
