When I logged in to the forums i found the new and updated topics button missing. I also get a page not found (404 error) if I select view unanswered forum posts or view new forum posts in the forum tools. Is some work/update being performed on the site

There was some issues when updating the Advanced Forums yesterday. Clearing the site caches fixed it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I never thought about clearing the cache, I guess that is what happens when i don't get any rest after work before I log in.
I had to clear the server cache. Dynamic sites like this cache generated content for quick serving to visitors. The partially broken forum pages from when I upgraded were still in server cache which is why things were missing. Clearing out cache had the bits get regenerated properly.
