Now that Facebook no longer supports XMPP, I was trying to see if I could get Pidgin to work with the new protocol.
There is a plugin that I found that seems promising: https://github.com/jgeboski/purple-facebook/wiki#basic-usage
I dropped libjson-glib-1.0.dll in PidginPortable\App\Pidgin and libfacebook.dll to PidginPortable\App\Pidgin\plugins.
But Pidgin Portable does not load the plugin. I wonder if anyone has had success with this plugin and the portable edition.
Any thoughts?

It's alpha quality. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't for me on the local install. I've had to remove the plugin and wipe that account a couple times as it was crashing Pidgin on startup.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Have you found anything better to avoid being logged into FB to chat?
I'm using messenger.com as a pinned tab in Firefox again.

I didn't know about messenger.com. It's better than having FB loaded just to chat. I guess that's the solution for now.
