I had a power outage and my kind of important text file got garbled.
All '[NUL]', when opening with Notepad 2 Portable. Is there any chance to recover it?
The bad news is, I accidentally have overwritten my backup from a few days back with the garbled one. Now I truly need to recover it. What (portable) app can you recommend for this job?
I tried all the different encodings in Notepad 2 (portable) to no avail. Maybe the proper solution - if there is any - is something completely different.
You could try using one of the file recovery apps on the drive to see if there is another version of it somewhere on there.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks for the tip, John,
This actually helped (2nd answer, no permalink): https://superuser.com/questions/223677/recovering-a-corrupted-txt-file
I set Recuva to try to fix files which were not deleted. That's it!
I wish you and to yours a successful 2016!
