Problems using the platform from which starts

Hi everyone!

I have a problem since a few days ago with my platform.

Using PortableApps installed on a laptop, specifically in the cloud, Box.com.
Now, when you start the computer and automatically launches the platform (I've set to boot as well), the following message appears:

"PortableApps.com or App Directory Updater is already running. It may be that the Platform is checking updates at startup. Please allow these instances are completed before starting another."

Even when I try to update the platform.

When I try to open an application, such as qBittorrent among others, the following appears:

"Another instance of qBittorrent Portable is starting. Please wait for it to start before launching it again"

Even without having begun before the application.

I tried to erase the entire platform and reinstall, but when you run the file .paf (12.2) downloaded, indicates:

"Error opening file for writing:
\ Documents \ Desktop.ini
Click Abort to stop the installation,
Retry to try again, or
Ignore to skip this file "

And this with all files that are opened, not being able to continue.

The operating system is Windows 10 64-bit.

Any ideas to help me solve the problem?

Thank you so much!

And sorry for my english, is a translation of Google Translator!

Permissions Issues

If you can't install, it sounds like you have permissions issues on those folders. Permissions issues can break installation as well as use of all portable software.

Hello and thanks for

Hello and thanks for answering.
Any suggestions to fix the problem?
I do not quite understand what you mean about folder permissions.
I deleted all the folders and files PortableApps on my computer, but even so I could start a new installation.

Permissions

Generally, the folder you install to, the current user logged in, and the user you are running an app as are all the same. Or, in the case of an external drive, the drive folders are set to "Everyone" having "Full Access". If you're logged in as one user trying to install to folders managed by another user, it'll break things. If you try to run an installer with DropMyRights or similar, it may be unable to install to the selected path. If you manually altered the permissions on the folders you're installing to at any time in the past, it could be affecting things now.

I understand what you mean.

I understand what you mean.
But it is strange, is a new computer, and I am the only user and administrator.
Other than that, I have not changed at all the folder permissions, unless it has been an application, but I doubt it since I have only installed the basics, I prefer to use portable software.
There may be a problem to be installed in a folder PortableApps cloud, as is Box.com
I think eventually be necessary to format my computer and reset everything to do a fresh install PortableApps, this time in a local folder.
Thanks for answering.
Greetings!

Another Location

Could you please try a location other than your Box folder? Perhaps just to your Desktop temporarily to try it out? It could be that the Box client has some bugs on Windows 10 and is syncing your folders with incorrect permissions.

SOLVED!!

Hello again,

I think I've solved the problem.
He also had trouble starting Google Drive, so searching for information on the web, I found solutions that mentioned the issue of permits, which were beginning to put the pieces together.
The applied solution is:

Open the Windows Explorer.
Paste this (% UserProfile% \ AppData \ Local) in address bar.
Right click on Properties then a Temp folder - Security tab - Advanced button.
Click in Everyone, Mark Change Permission and later click Edit
Mark all permissions
Press Ok (continue) in all windows questions.

After that, Google Drive works again and PortableApps normally !!
I was able to upgrade my portable applications and everything is fine.
I guess an update of the operating system can be modified permissions, this Windows 10 not to give me a headache.

Thanks for everything!!!
