I have a lot of portable apps, so I wonder if it's possible to use subfolders under the PortableApps.com folder?
I know I may put different apps in different menu categories but for the sake of the PortableApps.com folder not getting too cluttered with apps folders, it would be convenient to use subfolders - is this possible?

Are you referring to actual folders on the disk? Or within the menu? If on disk, there's no need as modern Windows supports tons of folders and there's not much need to ever browse them. When you do need to browse to an app's folder - say to work with plugins or something - just right-click on it in the PortableApps.com Platform and select Explore Here. You'll get an explorer window right to where you want.
If you mean in the menu, using favorites for your most used apps (aka pinning them) and then type to find search is the best way to deal with hundreds of apps.

I may have put this a bit clumsily but what I mean is a subfolder below the PortableApps folder on the portable drive, e.g. \PortableApps\Cleaners, where the Cleaners folder is where I put e.g. Ccleaner.
Tried this but the Platform don't find Ccleaner by searching for it when it's in the Cleaners subfolder.
The use of subfolders like that is not currently supported.
It is, however, an upcoming feature, listed as "Ability to manually add apps from other directories."
That's intended for non-PAF apps and will not be automatically updated.

I wish to say my opinion.
"Windows supports tons of folders", yes but not humans. And "explore here" is not the correct solution for the crowded folders problem.
Something similar I can say about menu tree, it could be more friendly.
Between various portable app interfaces I've opted for PortableApps for the reason that the update release dates are very closed to that of official (non portable) sw ones. But from the point of view of the "menu tree" another one UI (LiberKey) is, for me, the winner because it is more structured .
