Seems that the icon in the bottom right tray only show up when it wants. Is there a way to open the remove bla bla bla(i forget what it is called)window? All I want to do is know that I will not have a problem pulling out my drive.

Safely Remove Hardware? That's if you're a wierdo and use it. As long as a data transfer isn't taking place, removing your jump drive won't corrupt the data or anything, but if you're using a Mac, if you remove the jump drive without 'ejecting' it first, it'll just give you an annoying error message. (I'm assuming you mean a USB stick. As far as portable hard drives go, I think they're the same. Mine is.)
It might corrupt the data anyway.
Windows automatically has the USB set for fast eject so you can pull it, but you should still use Safely Remove Hardware just in case.

There are pros and cons of using the "Safely Remove"
First the Con: It is possible to totally corrupt the USB stick if it is a cheap no-name. Been there, done that and it ain't fun, especially when it was a 30-page term paper that got zapped the night before it's due.
Then the Pro: There is some malware that transfers to portable storage when the "Safely Remove Hardware" is used. It is usually caught if you have good antivirus, but it's still a hazard. Also been there. Without good antivirus. It was fun reformatting the hard drive and starting from scratch though, since I'd been meaning to ditch Windows for Linux anyway.

You should always use Safely Remove Hardware.
Also, you should make sure that there are no viruses, by using Clamwin Portable
