[Fixed] Backups no longer funtion (7-zip can't allocate required memory)

Ever since the upgrade to PA.c Platform 13, my backups consistently fail with an error that "7-zip can't allocate required memory" during backup.

Even running the command manually doesn't allow for the backup to complete. However, if I run the command manually, instead using my local x64 install of 7-zip, the command runs as expected and I don't get the error.

SysInfo:
Windows 8.1 Pro x64
24GB RAM
Local 7-zip v15.05beta
PA.c Platform v13
PA.c 7-zip v15.14 (Per the PA.c Platform's App folder 7-zip readme file)

Command Line

The platform uses the command line x86 version of 7-Zip. Try grabbing the standalone version here: http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

Then browse to your \PortableApps\PortableApps.com\App\7-Zip directory and copy in the 3 files from the x64 directory within the standalone 7z download.

Please post back if that works and I'll have 13.1 autoswitch to x64 as available.

x64 Works

I dropped in the x64 versions of the 7zip standalone and the issue has gone away.

I'm not sure if 7-zip changed anything massive recently, but the memory usage has skyrocketed when it's running, that may be expected though.

Major update

Platform 13 is the first version to use the new 7-Zip 15 as opposed to the older 2010 release.

You using "Max Compression"? That takes a lot more memory.

Yup. I've always used that

Yup. I've always used that though. I never noticed it using quite as much memory, but it's not an issue IMO.

Automatic Switching

I've added automatic switching between 7-zip 32-bit and 64-bit to the Backup and Restore functions in the platform that will be released shortly.

Fixed in 14.0

Platform 14 adds in automatic switching to 7-Zip 64-bit for improved performance and better memory handling. If you see any issues like the above recur, please let us know.
