I would really like to see a stable up to date release of the ownCloud Sync desktop app. Someone has made an attempt here https://portableapps.com/node/37132 but it is now quit dated and incomplete and as far as I know a lot as change upstream so a new app would need to be built.
ownCloud is a self-hosting cloud storage solution, an alternative to Dropbox, Google Drive etc. You can install it on your own server or shared hosting. The desktop sync app allows you to sync files bewteen your desktop and your ownCloud cloud storage. The desktop sync app and code can be found at https://owncloud.org/install/#desktop . It is open source although I can't find the license file just now.
The benefits of a portable client would be for people working from many different PC's that may not be their own and they don't want to or can't install the desktop client. It would be safer for them to be able to sync their work to the cloud rather than carrying it around on USB drives which they may loose or the drive may fail.
according to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OwnCloud
the license is
AGPLv3
which I think should be OK.

Any news?
I have just created a portable version of ownCloud Client with yaP and pack it with UPX. You can download it here
Currently there are two portable apps, that are hosted here:
GitHub
Just click on Download ZIP and thereafter you can extract the downloaded ZIP file into your portable directory.
