Chrome installs software locally when it shouldn't

Portable Chrome keeps installing something local on my C:\ called AppNhost. Any way to block this?

I don't want Chrome to leave any data residue left on any local machine

other browser

then use other browser

Maximum you can do is to close Chrome portable correctly after use and the launcher will delete all it can. There can be some empty folders left.
Chrome integrates itself too much into the local system and will leave some data in the windows.

"then use other browser

Is Chrome the only browser that does this? Leave a residue?

Opera, Iron Chrome, Firefox, Sea Monkey? None of them do this too, I hope. Yes? No?

Chrome Apps

Did you install a Chrome app? If so, it installs locally. Extensions do not. If you want portability, do not use Chrome apps.

No, I don't think I installed a Chrome app. Only extensions.

How can I tell?

Chrome Apps

Apps are those listed here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/apps

All of those are locally installed apps, not Chrome extensions. Same with everything in the Games category.

chrome residue

Hi, thanks for the reply.

And as I asked ottosykora up above, is Chrome is the only browser that leaves any reside on my native C:\ hard drive?

Chrome-based

Any of the chrome-based browsers may do so, including Iron, Opera, etc. Neither SeaMokey nor Firefox are Chrome-based, however although they do not leave personally identifiable data behind, they may leave Windows-generated data behind, such as MRU's.

Thanks for the response.

So, where would I look to clean off this residue left behind on the C: drive?

Not If You Don't Install

Google Chrome Portable will only leave bits behind if you tell it to install apps/games. By doing so, you're telling Chrome to install local software and have it accessible in the start menu. If you just use Chrome as a browser it won't leave things behind. Extensions are just fine.
