Firefox 64-bit Portable Stable

Firefox 64-bit stable has been available since Dec 2015.

Why is there still only Firefox 64-bit Portable Nightly available?

Stable and Beta are already 32+64-bit, have been since Dec 2015

You'll be pleased to know that you're already using it Smile Firefox Portable Stable includes both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Firefox within and will automatically use the appropriate version for the version of Windows it is running on. It was worked this way since Dec 2015 when Firefox x64 went stable. Same with beta. If you're using Firefox Portable stable channel on Windows x64, you're already using Firefox x64 you just didn't know it. It's all automatic and "just works". Each release of Firefox Portable states: "Firefox Portable is a dual-mode 32-bit and 64-bit app, ensuring Firefox runs as fast as possible on every PC." Note, however, that 64-bit Firefox is still generally slower than 32-bit Firefox for the majority of websites and use cases. This is one reason why Mozilla doesn't automatically upgrade 32-bit users to the 64-bit version.

The only reason Firefox Portable Developer is 32-bit only and Nightly is split into 32-bit and 64-bit is because the PortableApps.com Installer and PortableApps.com Updater don't yet support two downloads for a single online/live installer. Dev and Nightly are online installers (downloading the latest builds from Mozilla on install) and would need to download both the 32-bit and 64-bit builds at install time. Both the PA.c Installer and PA.c Updater in the platform must support two downloads for the dual mode builds to be released. They do in an internal build I am testing. It will be available in the near future.

Firefox 64-bit Portabe Stable

I understand now. I didn't realize I was already using Firefox 64-bit Portable Stable. Thanks for the long and informative answer.

Excellent work integrating both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Firefox Portable 64-bit not seeing Java64 Portable

Oh. There seems to be a problem with Firefox 64-bit Portable seeing Java64 Portable.

The lines of code in FirefoxPortableU.nsi seem correct:

${If} $bolUsing64Bit == true
${If} ${FileExists} "$0\CommonFiles\Java64\bin\plugin2\*.*"
${If} $PLUGINSDIRECTORY != ""
StrCpy $PLUGINSDIRECTORY "$PLUGINSDIRECTORY;$0\CommonFiles\Java64\bin\plugin2"

But, when I do about:plugins the Java64 plugin is not listed. The verify Java website tells me that Java is not installed.

Not Support

It was added before Mozilla finalized that no plugins are supported on 64-bit except Flash. There is no configuration option to alter this. Java itself is being ditched in the coming months in nearly all browsers. I think Oracle is discontinuing the plugin entirely, but I can't recall offhand.

Firefox 64-bit plugin support

Indeed. Flash 64-bit is supported.

However, I just tested and discovered that Silverlight 64-bit is supported too. So, it seems that 64-bit plugin support is limited to Flash and Silverlight.

Unplanned

We have no plans to do 64-bit only apps. All our apps work on every Windows machine by design. Releasing 64-bit only apps breaks that promise.

Chrome 64

But there is Chrome 64 which is pretty popular (With no promotion).

This policy makes no sense, really.
It's time to move forward, not being an island of History.

Going Away

Chrome 64 is going away once the installer and updater support 2 downloads. Then it will be another universal app (32-bit and 64-bit in one). That's why it's labeled as a test.

Portable apps are for *all* users. Not just those with specific hardware or software. Both you with your desire to have 64-bit (even though it's often slower in the case of many browser tasks) and users with 32-bit machines will be equally well served. Our policy ensures dual mode apps when they make sense. So you get to enjoy 64-bit performance and they get to enjoy an app that still works.

Google Recommend 64 Bit for 64 Bit Systems

Developers are leaving 32 Bit behind.
It's contrary to what you say and I really wish you didn't create Chorme with 32 + 64 Bit.

Why not have a 32 and 64 Bit packages?
Let's see which one is more popular.

I think the user base is different than what you think.

I would even think you can drop support for anything before Windows 7 (As Google did and many to follow) and the popularity won't decrease.

Really, move forward, don't carry all this luggage.

No

Once again, the answer is no. Our apps work for all users by design. I'm sorry it's not the answer you want. But that is the final answer.

Now please stop multi-posting about this in separate completely unrelated threads.

Not sure if this is the

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but this was the only topic I could find that was relevant to my issue.

I see that the Firefox portable runs in dual mode of 32 bit and 64 bit but am lost on how this is possible. When I go to the 3 horizontal bars in the top right, then click on the question mark and the select troubleshooting information, under User Agent its says Win64 which means it is the 64 bit edition. I do not see WOW64 which means 32 bit.

Is the app loading the Firefox version based on the user's OS version and not running both 32 bit and 64 bit seamlessly together?

Is there a way to toggle between the 32 bit and 64 bit?

As you know Java is not supported in the 64 bit version of Firefox, the only way to run Java is in the 32 bit version. If the app is loading the version of Firefox based on the version of the user's OS, how is the user suppose to run Java? I am only asking this because in order for me to VPN to my computer at work, the browser needs to launch a Java applet which then will launch Cisco Anyconnect. According to https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-fire... Firefox is suppose to discontinue the support of NPAPI plugins which my understanding is what Java applets require to run on so I am trying to archive a working edition of Firefox portable before NPAPI is totally discontinued.

I'd rather not have to install the 32 bit version of Firefox since the reason i'm trying to use a portable version is because Google Chrome is my daily browser.

I'd rather a offline installer of the 32 bit version from Mozilla but I rather not have to install it on my computer since Google Chrome is my main browser.

Always Use 32-bit

Our launcher chooses which version to use based on the user's OS. It is not possible to toggle between versions. If you wish/need to use the 32-bit version over the 64-bit, as you've indicated, here's the instructions for what to do:

I have problem with lunching

I have problem with launching 64-bit version.
When I launch fresh install of Firefox Portable then in Process Explorer there is 32-bit "Firefox Portable" launcher process and 64-bit "Firefox" processes.
But when I move my profile in to this installation then launcher always launch 32-bit version.
Why?
How to use my profile on 64-bit Firefox?
