Error with PortableApps.com Platform

Hi,

I got an error message since I moved from PortableApps.com Platform version 11.2 to version 14.1. I am using Windows 7 64 bits. My portable apps are on a USB keys (USB 2.0, 32Gb; USB 3.0, 16Gb; USB 3.0, 64Gb). On the 64Gb key, the version 14,1 was directly installed, no upgrades. Note however that this error doesn't block the use of the all PortableApps keys. The results when I do the start is :
1) Error windows 'PortableApps.com Platform' appears
Message: "The specified module could not be found, ClassID: {56FDF344-FD6D-11D0-958A-006097C9A090}.

2) The scan for Apps Icon does not occur and the automatic "Check updates" is not occuring also.

Do you have any idea how can this problem be solved?

Thanks.

Unclear

From your post, it is unclear when this is happening.

1. If you do a fresh install of the PortableApps.com Platform to all your drives, does it happen on all of them or just the 64GB one?

2. If you do a fresh install of the PortableApps.com Platform just to your Deskop directory of your current user, does the error occur?

3. If I recall correctly, {56FDF344-FD6D-11D0-958A-006097C9A090} is associated with the Windows task bar and should exist. Is there something custom you've done with Windows at all? Any custom antivirus/antispyware running?

Here are my answer to your

Here are my answer to your questions.

1) I did a fresh install on my 64Gb usb key. Even this key got the error message. All USB key that already had the PortableApps install on them show the same error.

2) Recently, I used one of those key on another computer and I did not receive that message. Therefore, the message is directly linked to my Windows. It seems that I am missing a Class ID in my registry.

3) I did not customized Windows and played in the registry. I would probably go with the antivirus/antispyware which are not custom (using Baidu and Avira).

In light of these tests and your input, I have to add that class to my registry. However, I do not know how? What would be the syntax? Do you have any idea?

Thanks.

Clean Install Windows

If it were my machine, I'd personally clean install Windows to be safe. You have no idea what made that change and no idea what else it could have messed up within Windows when it did so.

I'd also recommend against using Baidu. Baidu's analytics tool (similar to Google AdSense) was used by the Chinese government to carry out a distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) agains github in an attempt to force github to remove software that enabled Chinese citizens to read uncensored news and the internet. Installing something like Baidu locally gives it full administrative access to your entire machine. I'm unsure if Baidu's antivirus has been used for anything nefarious at this point in time, but a local install would enable it to make registry changes, alter trusted certificate authorities, etc. The digital certificate agency CNNIC controlled by the Chinese government was caught issuing fake certificates for Google, Gmail, etc. While this authority was banished from all Google and Mozilla products, software installed locally could re-enable it, which would be a major security threat.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thanks.

Thanks.

The second one (value) is missing. The 2 other I have in my registry. I saw that I have a lot of this CLSID in the registry...a lot. Is it normal?

As what John stated

I would reinstall the entire OS
