PortableApps launcher is a blank green box

I had the platform installed on a Sandisk Cruiser, everything worked wonderfully. Then I tried installing Wine on my Linux Mint machine ... never did get it working. Now I'm back at work on a Windows 10 machine, open my PortableApps Platform just as I've done for weeks now, and all I get for a PortableApps launcher is a big green box, with "lblAppButtonxx" where my app buttons would be (xx being 01 through 20); if someone can tell me how to add an image to my post I'd be glad too.

I tried a "quick format" of the drive, reinstalled PortableApps, no change. Did a full format of the drive, reinstalled, no change. What the ...???!!!

An update: The PortableApps drive described above works fine on my Windows 7 laptop. The problem appears to be with the Windows 10 machine on our corporate network. It worked fine a week ago, so I'm at a loss.

It appears that I can browse to the PortableApps directory and manually run the programs; it's just the PortableApps Platform that's having this bizarre problem.

As you say that the the Drive/Software again behaves normally on your own Windows 7 laptop, but no longer on your Corporate Network, then the start point for investigation would seem to be obvious. You first need to ask your Network Management Team whether anything has changed (or been introduced) to prevent employees from running their own "portable software". Is running 'your own software' on the Corporate Network even permitted, given the potential/perceived dangers to the business of employees possibly running external software from unknown sources?

Yes, of course it would seem to be "obvious". But the fact that all of the portable apps run fine, but the PortableApps Platform does not, would tell me that there's an issue with the Platform (or launcher, or whatever it's called). If it's a network management issue, how do my portable browsers function without an issue? For that matter, why should the PortableApps launcher need network access to simply display its interface??

Run Local

Try to install and run a clean install of the PortableApps.com Platform within your Desktop directory on the affected machine. Select to install to a custom location and select your desktop.

Likely, there is an issue with either the graphics drivers or something is preventing the platform from reading its theme files. Installing locally will help you eliminate both issues with your drive as well as issues with your USB being blocked.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Pure magic

I was looking forward to trying your suggestion, but as it turns out, when I arrived at work today they had moved our offices, and -- presto - chango -- everything works fine now. I can feel the battle raging between good and evil forces all around me ... or maybe it's the sriracha burrito I had ...

We'll see how long it continues working. Thanks for the great suggestion!
