fmp_setup.exe is malware

what does this file do? fmp_setup.exe, it won't let me delete it. Everytime I try, windows tells me some other program is using it, but this is first thing right after a reboot?

How do I remove it?

What does fmp stand for?

Or try Unlocker.
It helped me several times.

I don't know what it stands

I don't know what it stands for. Unlocker was able to delete it, but said it belonged to explorer.exe, code 1532. After it runs, it automatically reassigns itself to explorer unless you select delete with Unlocker.

I did a search for fmp_setup.exe and it's packaged with Portableapps.

On my flash drive I was able to (right click) delete it on another computer that I had not (left) clicked on to start it up.

I also downloaded the Fusion Media Player (fmp_setup.exe 329kb)listed elsewhere in this forum, and downloaded it, however it must have done something to cause problems on my flash drive, and this file in Portableapps.

I was able to format the flash drive after getting rid of the fmp setup, but would not let me do so or delete the file before that. I did a check disk and found over a hundred small files hiding on the flash drive. I can only assume that this file is malware.

Thanks for the unlocker, I'll keep that one for sure.
