KeePass 2 requires the .NET framework, which the PortableApps Launcher currently can't detect. Running an app that requires .NET on a PC without it gives a terrible user experience, as most apps just die silently when the required .NET framework can't be found.
That said, progress is being made towards the PortableApps Launcher detecting installed .NET versions ready for us to start releasing .NET apps, and KeePass 2 has been marked as a prime candidate for the first .NET release.
And what about QT app KeePassX? It was just updated to 2.0 version and supports both kdb and kdbx files! It is shipped as portable too https://www.keepassx.org/downloads/
Need to wait and see.
Apart from the recent 2.0 version, there hasn't been a stable release in almost 6 years. For all we know, development will stall again as it did in 2010.
Also, depending on just how close .NET support in the PortableApps Launcher is, it would be redundant to release KeePassX, then soon after also release KeePass 2.
KeePass 2 requires the .NET Framework ≥ 2.0. It is already included by default in a very old system, which is Windows Vista (and higher). This allows to run KeePass 2 application without any problems on any PC with Windows.
KeePass 2 adds many security features which are crucial.
Could it be added (Not instead but in addition)?
This is a security thing.
Thank You.
KeePassX 2.x
It's already on the ToDo List for .NET Applications: see https://portableapps.com/node/21636
There's little point in keeping these requests going until a policy decision is made by the PortableApps Team on the future release and maintenance of .NET Apps.
If you anyone is really desperate to run this version portably then simply use the 'plain' portable version from the KeePass Site. You'll just need to keep it updated manually.
