configurable downloaddirectory

Hi,

Would it be possible to make the downloaddirectory of the updater a setting? Reason I ask this is because updating goes wrong here. Downloads are going ok, but security policies on my company laptop blocks running executables from the temp directory. So the updater continues without really updating. And since the files are being deleted after the updater finishes, I cannot easily pick the up too update manually (in fact I can when 1 of the updates is big enough to give me some time, but it's not very convenient). Outside this tempdirectory executable run just fine. So hence the wish to be able to alter the download location.

Cheers

Coming, Possible Workaround

The ability to specify a download directory and optionally keep installers is coming in a future version of the platform.

For now, you may be able to specify a TEMP directory for the platform and its apps that would allow you to update. Create a directory called TempForPortableApps alongside the PortableApps directory. So, the directory containing Start.exe would contain Start.exe, Documents, PortableApps and TempForPortableApps. Then start the platform via Start.exe. This may allow you to update for now. All apps within the platform will use that as TEMP (it's designed mainly for machines without a working TEMP directory) so if you're running from a slower drive, you may wish to only do this to update apps to avoid slowing down your actual app usage for any apps that rely heavily on TEMP. Hope that helps!

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
