I installed the Platform, then set Options to list apps smart, by category, only installed apps, open-source apps, expand categories by default. All I get is an alphabetical list of apps. What am I missing?

That configuration means you'll have two separate screens listing apps. The first will be a smart list of favorited apps and most used apps. Then at the bottom there's a "All Portable Apps" button that switches to show all apps by category. If you just want the apps by category without the smart list first, select the third option "Show All With Categories"

Thank you, John, that seems clear, though counterintuitive. When I am offered a set of options, I expect them to work as described. That is clearly not the case here. But at least it does work, with an extra mouse click. For those of us with wrist problems, that is NEVER a good thing!
Speaking of which, is there a global shortcut that opens the platform, or does one have to mouse-click every time to accomplish that?
Thanks!
The description does read "Smart with Categories - Favorites and recent apps on first screen. All apps by category on second." Maybe "Smart then Categories" would be clearer.
The global hotkey is CTRL-ALT-SPACE. You can change it to another option by editing the INI file: https://portableapps.com/support/platform#advanced

Thanks once again, John. The thing is, for a new user there are no favorites or recent apps. In that event, the program seems to display the entire list, or the entire installed list, in alpha order. Given the options I selected, this is not what I expected.
Thanks for the shortcut! Is there another, app-specific shortcut that toggles the view? For that matter, is there a list of shortcuts?
