Skype installer "sendrequest error"

The last installer of Skype portable does not work properly, after selecting the location, and clicking on the installer will show the error "sendrequest error"

I do not use proxy, firewall disabled, still the same error "sendrequest error"

In this thread: https://portableapps.com/node/42157 - I learned a bit, but I can download in IE this link: http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.37.0.103.msi

Platform

Could you please temporarily install the PA.c Platform, just to a folder on your desktop is fine, and then install sPortable/Skype via the app store to see if that works? I think it may be an obscure crossing zone warning you have set in IE.

Windows XP

You're using Windows XP it appears from the screenshot. Have you installed IE8 and all patches through Windows Update? Neither the platform nor the live installers will work any longer if not.

In Control Panel, please open Internet Options, click the Advanced tab, scroll to the bottom and ensure that "Warn if changing between secure and not secure mode" is checked.

Probably can not download via https, Strange that Skype setup is available via http: http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.37.0.103.msi - and this installer does not download.

Unchecked

Sorry, that should read "ensure it is unchecked". Having it checked breaks the live installers. The platform has a workaround for it, but it may fail in some instances.

Now unchecked - still the same I can not download.

I even set it as default browser Firefox or Chrome, through which https gets no problem and nothing.

Windows Components

Not sure what else it could be. That error is what the Windows internet components are telling the installer (and the platform) happened when they tried to do the download. I'm not sure why they wouldn't be working on your particular PC though. For now, download that Skype installer you linked above and put it in the same directory as the sPortable installer. Then run the sPortable installer. It will automatically use the one you manually downloaded instead of live downloading it.

Ever since sPortable replaced

Ever since sPortable replaced the Skype branding i have never been able to install it. Now i need to do something about it because my skype portable 7.32 has completely stopped connecting for some reason. I can't even get to enter my details, only a "Sorry, we couldn't connect to skype" error and my only access at the moment is the web based version

I have IE8 installed with all patches/updates on XP. I can download the skype installer in IE and other browsers without a problem. It is only the portableapps installer that won't download it

I looked at a whole bunch of different sPortable installation error threads and noticed you can download the installer manually and place it in your sPortable install folder and it can install it directly from the msi file. Another thread says to rename the msi to exe but that doesn't work anymore so keep it as msi

First thing to note is i am in Australia and found that the setup file that you download depends on your geo-location. I got 2 versions to test and play with. Here is what i did for the US version which i grabbed using TOR

D:\sPortable v7.39.0.102\sPortable_7.39.0.102_online.paf
D:\sPortable v7.39.0.102\SkypeSetup_7.39.0.102.msi <---- this came from http://download.skype.com/msi/SkypeSetup_7.39.0.102.msi

The msi file above is the US version at 43.3MB / 44,404KB / 45,469,696 bytes with CRC32 of B8AC61FF
It installs fine but i get an error trying to run it: "The procedure entry point CancelMibChangeNotify2 could not be located in the dynamic link library IPHLPAPI.DLL

If i download the setup file using my local connection and the link i have always used i get this file...
SkypeSetup.msi <---- this came from http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-msi
45.1MB / 46,252KB / 47,362,048 bytes with CRC32 of 238A8E18

But my local version does not install when putting it in the sPortable folder. I still get the same error most people get, that pesky SendRequest error. It seems to me that the PA installer can't install my local version for some reason. So here i am stuck without a proper skype because of the flaky installation files and whatever else micro$oft does behind the scenes to force updates

edit: I forgot to note that i also tried changing my local version SkypeSetup.msi to the US name SkypeSetup_7.39.0.102.msi but that didn't work. It's something to do with the different msi installer
