Any Way to Save Calc, Writer, etc. Files to Different Folders?

As a long time Excel and Word user, I have my Excel spreadsheets in one folder and my Word documents in another folder and I would like to direct LibreOffice to these individual folders. Is there an extension/add-on that gives us this capability? As far as I can tell there is only one file path for 'My Documents'.

Dont think so, consider alternative

Have you considered becoming data-centric rather than app-centric?, i.e store your files based on topic, subject or project (like you would in a paper filing cabinet) then this limitation of LibreOffice becomes irrelevant.

Yes I have considered the

Yes I have considered the data-centric approach, but I prefer keeping my Excel files and my Word files (along with other types) separated by type of file.

In thinking about your note, I realized that if I do a Save As I can select the destination folder, which I just tested and it did as expected.

Opening a spreadsheet in my spreadsheets folder and then hitting the Save icon did save it to that folder, as I wanted; so I think my concerns have disappeared. The Open file opens the last opened folder, so that's good also.

Thanks for your reply.
