Can I use all of the apps that are in the Portable.com Platform outside of the platform? I assume that doing so will disable automatic update. What are the other drawbacks?

Two things that come to mind is that automatic language switching won't happen, nor will the use of the platform's Fonts files. There may be additional drawbacks as well, but I don't know off hand.
With that said, however, all of the applications will run without the platform.
