AutoRuns can't be updated

Hi all,

I'm not able to update AutoRuns to v13.80. Every time I try to do so, I get the message, that the download was not possible.
Even when using the downloaded executable "AutorunsPortable_13.80_English_online.paf.exe", the same effect comes up: "The installer was unable to download autoruns".

Since I have a working internet connection, something else must be the problem. Any hints? Anyone experiencing the same thing?

Exact Error

Is that the exact errror? What OS are you running? Have you applied all updates? Are downloads in IE working properly (it uses Windows components like the updater and installers do)?

Yes, that's the exact error.

Yes, that's the exact error. Everything is working fine, I'm using Windows 10. Downloads are working fine in IE. No matter if I use the executable downloaded directly from here, or if I try to update it using the integrated update function from the portable apps framework (means: the menu starting from my usb stick), it won't update. The download does not work.

Next thing I try to do is to create an IP trace using wireshark... maybe I see more then.

UPDATE: nothing to see in IP trace, so I can't figure out, which host should be contacted, and if something is wrong there, or if there is a connectivity issue. But since everything else works, I'm not sure if it is really a problem on my side. But I won't deny it completely Smile

IE Download

Download this file in IE: http://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip

Make sure the MD5 is 29a1611d7c1d701048914dc49676d104

Sorry, I had to do other

Sorry, I had to do other things, so I did not reply for some days.

It seems to be a local problem here, but I did not identify it right now. When trying to "ping download.sysinternals.com", I only get a "general error". Traceroute stops after one "general error". It seems to be not a problem with my router, because I have no restrictions, filters, blacklists etc. defined. Even when clicking the download link on the official sysinternals website (now belonging to microsoft), I get the error.

UPDATE: it's the windows firewall, which prevents me from downloading from "download.sysinternals.com". When deactivating the windows 10 defender firewall, everything works fine.

I think I have an idea, how this happened... I used a program named "W10Privacy and I disabled all telemetry delivery to microsoft servers. I think, the IP address for download.sysinternals.com is one of the addresses used for this feature...

Likely Down

It's likely the publisher's site was down again. It's working now.
