Rename directory

You can rename the directory it's in.

With that being said, we do not recommend using such a version for live production use, as any security fixes will be exploited in previous versions in short order following updates.

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

Alright, so I would have to adapt some paths in other programs. I assume, there is no other way.

Yes, that is a drawback, indeed, but in the new FF there are almost all of my extensions not working anymore.

Firefox ESR 52.x

I'd recommend switching to Firefox ESR 52.x. It works with all your Firefox legacy extensions and will receive security updates through June of next year. If you're already on Firefox 56, you can't just move your profile as some file layouts have changed, but you can login to Firefox Sync and sync all your data and then login on Firefox ESR Portable 52.x and sync it all back.

Cannot get it working properly, some add ons are not synced or not synced correctly / completely obviously, many settings aren't synced also.

Using my old Firefox is too risky?

Firefox 56 is Vulnerable

Multiple security issues present in 56 are fixed in 57. These security issues that are present in 52.x are also fixed in the current release of 52 ESR. Anything else is likely vulnerable. Never run an outdated version of a browser.

Thank you for the link, well,

Thank you for the link, well, yes, quite many security vulnerabilities. So I see I should try to use that ESR Firefox and get the extensions / settings working.

How could I make sure that

How could I make sure that only the ESR Firefox is updated and not the 56 Firefox (when I more than once try to correctly update the ESR Firefox )?

Respectively how can I update a second time or more the ESR Firefox without updating the 56 Firefox with the data of the ESR Firefox?

Usual

You upgrade in the usual manner. Let the platform upgrade each version. Or, if not using the platform, manually downloading each ESR release and installing over itself. Firefox ESR will not automatically upgrade to stable channel Firefox.

Ah, very sorry, by "update" I

Ah, very sorry, by "update" I meant the Firefox Sync option, online:
>>>>but you can login to Firefox Sync and sync all your data and then login on Firefox ESR Portable 52.x and sync it all back.

So how can I make sure that the 56 Firefox is not snyced with data from the ESR Firefox, but that only the ESR Firefox is synced / updated with the data of the 56 Firefox.

Doesn't these updates come

Doesn't these updates come from Mozilla directly?
There is a serious issue with FF updating by itself even thou you have set it not to. It's happened to me more than once (until I read up on it since I didn't know there was a problem, not using it very often) until I took multiple steps to prevent it. I run v56 and have no interest in loosing any more of the classic features & look from 57 and up.
