Hi All;
I have a set of around 50 portable apps installed in my portable apps platform in a Windows 7 Professional machine. I arrived at them over a few years and feel it is customized to my needs. Thanks to/for PortableApps for this great service. (Yes, I do donate)
My question is whether I can copy my PortableApps folder to my new Windows 10 machine, adjust the startup shortcut for the platform, and still have them work, or at least most of them work (is there a list of these? ) I did a forum search and didn't find a thread or article discussing this.
Please advise, and any help is welcome.
Thanks.
Jojo
You can safely copy them over. Other than one or two functions in a couple apps that can only handle drive letter changes, you can safely move them from one PC to another even to a new path. The only caveat on placement is LibreOffice and OpenOffice which can't handle being very deep in a path (placed in lots of sub-directories).
And thank you for the donation. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for all the high quality work you do in keeping this great resource going.
One last question concerns how to handle LibreOffice. I have a bunch of extensions installed so that it is configured pretty much as I like it. Do you have a suggestion on how to move it? Is it better to just reinstall?
Thanks
Jojo
Just move it. It's built to handle paths changing. It has to when you move a drive between PCs or install it to your cloud folder and sync it to a PC with a different path (due to a different username, for instance).
