Firefox Portable Crashes At Every Start

A while ago i tried installing Firefox Portable Development Edition and ever since then I cannot get my standard Firefox Portable to start. It crashes every time. for a time it would crash and ask if i wanted to start in safe mode and then work in safe mode. Now it won't even do that.

I've tried the following all together even:

-> Removed all Firefox plugins
-> Wiped out the entire registry entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla path
-> Emptied the ..\AppData\Local\Temp\ path
-> Emptied the ..\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\ path
-> Emptied the ..\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ path
-> Started with a fresh install of Firefox Portable in a new path and even changed the executable name (why not)

Somewhere, somehow there's something not so portable that is being referenced and freaking it out after using the Firefox Portable Dev version (which did not work right on this workstation btw).

Running Windows 7 Pro SP1 (64 bit) with 8 GB ram on an i5.

I would appreciate someone smart pointing out what I've missed.

Here's crash details if it helps:

How Running

How are you starting Firefox Portable? Have you tried a clean install temporarily to your Desktop directory?

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Yup. Totally new install in a new path. I even moved the old one off to a thumb drive and removed the drive so the old path would not exist, just incase there was some weird reference to the old data store.

Safe Mode

Have you tried starting in safe mode? To do this, launcher FirefoxPortable.exe -safe-mode You might also be able to hold down SHIFT while it's starting rather than starting from the command line.

Just tried it form the command line as you suggested in a fresh install and it goes straight to the crash reporter. Tried restarting from the crash reporter and keeps crashing.... I'm at a total loss. It has to be looking at something old that I have not cleaned out but I don't know where to look.

Firefox Portable 57.0.4

I installed 57.0.4 after realising 57.0.1 was using up all my storage and then falling over..
Applied 57.0.4 over the top and - apart from trashing all bookmarks and history - it appears to be working OK thus far..
However I notice it is still claiming to be 57.0.1 under Help - is it telling porkies or has something gone wrong?
