Version 5.4.4 can not be started on Windows XP. I have to work professionally with an XP-PC and can only use version 5.4.3 at the moment.

Version 5.4.2 could not start under XP, 5.4.3 yes.

5.4.4 and up require Vista and newer. If you'd like to use LibreOffice on XP, please use LibreOffice Portable Still 5.3.7 as it supports XP and has all relevant security updates. You should not use 5.4.3 any longer. Please note that LibreOffice 5.3.x will be end-of-lifed shortly at which point no version of LibreOffice will support Windows XP. For security, your office should upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 or newer ASAP.

Note also note that any app can drop XP with any release as publishers update to toolchains without support for XP (and often Vista). Most publishers do not officially support XP any longer even if there apps happen to work. We do not test every single release of every app so any given update could stop working.

Unfortunately I can not find the gernan-news where it says that 5.4.x still supports Windows XP. 5.4, 5.4.1 and 5.4.3 work under XP.

The XP PC is at work, not my PC. Thanks for the answer.

If you try to run the normal LibreOffice 5.4.4 installer on Windows XP it pops up an error saying it requires Vista and newer. Like most publishers, they likely didn't publicize the fact that XP is dropped much.
