IObit Uninstaller

I have to apologize for asking this question, but I earnestly searched the Support page and I wasn't able to find the answer.
The IObit uninstaller from PortableApps.com is showing up under my list of installed programs under Control Panel after I ran it to uninstall a program from my hard drive. I'm not sure if this is supposed to have happened or because the IObit uninstaller was ran incorrectly. It worked fine to uninstall the program I wanted to uninstall but, I'm just trying to figure out why IObit Uninstaller is showing up in the list of installed programs under Control Panel. The size of the file isn't given in Control Panel but it's the same version that was downloaded from PortableApps onto a removable thumb drive.
Any explanation would be appreciated.

While Running?

It should show up while running and then be removed on exit. It's a quirk of how the app itself works. If it doesn't see itself in installed programs, it installs itself when you run it. "Installed" in this case just means a registry key is written on start and removed on exit. Is it not being removed properly on exit at the moment? What OS, 32vx64-bit, etc are you on so I can recreate the issue, please?

Not while running IObit

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure if this 'quirk' has something to do with it or not. The way you described it to work is how I thought it was supposed to run - but just not remain on exit. I don't know if this additional information is worth while mentioning, but I allowed it to create a restore point before I uninstalled a program the first time I ran it. Shortly after IObit uninstalled the program, I had to do a system restore (for other reasons) to return to the restored point IObit created. So IObit was ran a total of two times - uninstalling the same program "twice". I didn't check to see if IObit still remained on exit BEFORE returning the system to the earlier restore point. I noticed it remained after the second time I ran it.
I'm using Windows 10, 64-bit
I'll be interested to know if you can re-create the similar result in Windows 10 Home

Removed On Exit, Could Be Stuck On Yours Due to Restore

When I exit IObit Uninstaller, I see the registry entries removed from the local PC. I do see that Windows 10 will take some time to update the actual installed apps list after the registry keys are removed, though. So, you can run the app, exit, then open up the Apps & Features option in Control Panel and you'll still see IObit Uninstaller there. But if you wait a bit (should be under a minute), it'll vanish. At least that's what I'm seeing on Windows 10 x64 Pro Build 1709. Is that not what you're seeing?

If you somehow snapshotted while it was running, then it would be "installed" when you restore. And the portable app purposely backs up and restores those keys if they exist so as not to affect a local version. You can remove the one you stuck in the registry by starting up regedit and then manually deleting this key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\IObitUninstall

Registry

Sorry for the late reply.

I double checked all Software keys in each node of the registry tree and did not find any entries. All the information that I can gather from the installed program in Control Panel is the Name, Publisher, Date Installed, and the Version. The version 7.3.0.13 showing tells me this couldn't be the portable app. My removable media drive shows ver. 2.2.1.0 from PortableApps.com.

I never ran this 'installed' version before, nor was the executable ever downloaded. I have no idea why this application is showing in the list of installed programs under Control Panel. Since I see no entries of the installed program found in the structure of the registry, I'm just going to uninstall it.

I wasn't creating an image backup while running the portable app to restore the system.
I shouldn't have mentioned in my last reply that a restore point was created. All that did was raise questions. The option to create a restore point within the IObit portable app was an option to choose. The issue is unrelated since I wasn't creating a snapshot backup. The local PC was restored back to that restore point IObit created by using Window's built-in system protection - System Restore.

Restore Point

If you create a restore point while IObit Uninstaller Portable is running, IObit Uninstaller will appear to be installed if you restore that specific restore point. As mentioned, IObit Uninstaller has to see itself installed to run correctly, so the portable launcher causes it to appear installer on launch and removes that entry on exit. You will need to manually remove the registry keys yourself:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\IObitUninstall
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\IObitUninstall

If you see IObit Uninstall listed in your installed programs, it will appear in one of those registry keys.
