[Fixed] Exception EGestureException in Platform 15.0

Error on new install or upgrade for v15

... error I'm getting at startup and the app then closes. Exception EGestureException in module PortableAppsPlatform.exe at 0024EEEA. Unable to enable or disable IRealTimeStylus: the Parameter is incorrect.

I am using Windows 7 and have tested it on a TB and a 2TB harddisk.

Any ideas?

More Details

Could you please supply some more details including 32vs64-bit, Windows language, whether or not your device has a touch screen, whether or not your device has a drawing tablet attached, whether your device is fully up to date in Windows Update, and anything else you think might be relevant. Also, did you manually disable the Tablet PC Input Service?

Recreating Is Hit And Miss

If I just disable the service, I generally don't get an error. If I enable the service, run the platform, manually kill the wisptis.exe process, close and then reopen, I can usually get the error to occur and keep occurring. So, it seems something has to be messed up on a given PC to cause this error, not just manually disabling a Windows process that isn't expected to be disabled. I'm working on loading this at runtime for Windows 8 and up only as it's far less likely those OSes will have this issue even with manually disabling services than Windows 7 will.

Fixed in 15.0.1

This is fixed in 15.0.1 by having touch support disabled by default and only enabling on Windows 8 and higher on platform start. Windows 8 and up supports touch more reliably than Windows 7 and most everyone using a touch-enabled device is likely using Windows 10.

Unplugged my Monoprice drawing tablet and PA launches fine

(posting as FYI in case it helps others)

I'd been seeing this recently, nothing helped:
* unable to disable TabletInputService -- "Unable to stop service: The operation could not be completed. The requested control is not valid for this service."
* tried multiple versions of Windows 10 x64 including 20H2, 21H1, maybe others
* tried several versions of PortableApps including versions verified as fixing the issue up through the latest v18.0.1, fresh installs on other sticks, etc.

I just unplugged my Monoprice drawing tablet and PA launches fine. Beee
