In the latest portable release (GIMPPortable_2.10.0-2.paf.exe) that I have installed in portable apps I am having major issues using the program. Things like no descriptive text when I hover over the tools, selecting pencil shows no circle on the graphic when I try to draw, I cannot save my ".xcf" files. There are more but I didn't want to make the list too big.
Currently it is unusable.
What I did to test issue:
- Full install GIMP 2.10 (gimp-2.10.0-setup-2.exe) from their site. No problems.
- Removed GIMP 2.10 (GIMPPortable_2.10.0-2.paf.exe) and deleted any directories related to it. Then reinstalled the same program.
- Installed the paf (GIMPPortable_2.10.0-2.paf.exe) to "C:\support\gimp"
The full install works fine. No matter what I do I cannot get the portable GIMP 2.10 (GIMPPortable_2.10.0-2.paf.exe) to work correctly.
OS - Windows 10 Pro
Ram - 16 gigs
Video - Nvidia 1050ti
Portable working directory - X:\PortableApps\GIMPPortable
If you're running 64bit Windows, it installed the 64bit version of gimp locally. The portable version uses the 32bit build which has the issues.

Yes, 64 bit Windows 10 Pro. Thank you for the response.
Is the solution to sit tight and wait for a fix to the 32 bit portable version?
You can copy the 64-bit version into GIMPPortable\App\gimp for now and have the 64-bit version if that's all you need. We're waiting for the GIMP developers to issue another update. This happened on the last major version of GIMP as well, 32-bit was broken for a bit. I think it was similar issues with being unable to save or export back then, too.
UPDATE: The publisher just released 2.10.2 so we'll likely get Windows builds in the coming days: https://www.gimp.org/news/2018/05/20/gimp-2-10-2-released/

For now I went ahead and copied my 64 bit version in and it is working fine.
Look forward to changing it back to the portable version when the issues get worked out though.
Thank you.
We officially reverted GIMP Portable to the older working build from last year. You can use that, too.
