Firefox Portable won't load

I'm trying to use Firefox Portable from my USB thumb drive, but I can't seem to get it to work. The splash screen will appear and the program appears in the task manager processes window, but after the splash screen dissapears, so does the firefox process. It just shuts down with no warning or error. I've had this same result on every University computer I've used. When a program is blocked, an error appears and tells you that it's been blocked, so I have no idea what might be causing this.

I sometimes use Portable GAIM and that works fine, if this helps.

Thanks in advance.

Some Universities Kill It

Some universities auto-kill the Firefox process after it has been started. If it works on non-uni PCs, chances are the same is going on with you. You could rename the firefox.exe and use an INI in the launcher to try this theory. Check out the help.html in the FirefoxPortable directory. There's a link for advanced options you can check out that has details.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Well, the advanced config

Well, the advanced config options didn't work. I guess their block continually scans active programs.

I guess it's back to using IE 6.0. *shudder*

If Gaim works, try renaming

If Gaim works, try renaming firefox.exe to gaim.exe.
You could always ask the Uni IT staff to either allow you to use FxP or at least have Firefox on their computers.

Vintage!
