This is a quick test. It's

This is a quick test. It's based on the windows build by lachs0r.
mpv is mostly indended to be used as command line player or with associated files. That limits its use as a portable app. Launched from the PA.c Menu it acts as if started from the explorer in pseudo-gui mode. It has no menus or configuration gui but simply plays the files dropped on the app's window. There is a list of keyboard shortcuts in the extensive manual in the app folder.

hi, it's work fine for me..

hi, it's work fine for me...no pb with drag and drop video files (mp4, avi, ogv)
just a pb when it's launching by an other soft (if i config the mpvPortable.exe in config as video player) but it's work if i put the \mpvPortable\App\mpv\mpv.exe (but, honestly, this is the same with vlc... i have to put the \VLCPortable\App\vlc\vlc.exe). if not we only have the splash screen and nothing...

ty for your work...

not portable

Linking directly to the app's exe is not portable - if you're wanting to do that, you'd be better off installing the application directly.

I understand what you're

I understand what you're saying, but for me it's not a portability requirement.
Most portable programs do not work if they are called by a third-party program ... already because it asks you for the path and saves it in "hard" (not relative path) and/or also because it asks you for the name of the exe to be able to put arguments behind it ... (gpodder and vlc, winmerge and notepad +, etc ...)

Hi Totoche,

Hi Totoche,
could you be more specific how mpvPortable.exe is called by the other app? What app do you use? How is it configured? Sometimes you need to put it in quotes if filenames contain spaces.

i try with a tv soft (replay,

i try with a tv soft (replay, live) : https://captvty.fr/ (sorry only in french...)
(i don't think this is a pb of name format)
if you want to try : "option" , "lecteur video", "ajouter un lecteur", ok. and to try, right clic on tv symbol on the left and "visionner xxx en direct (flux alternatif, avec mpvPortable"

but I repeat, for me it's ok and portable (my regshot report is ok before / after)

edit : i'm on seven...

If you just need mpv to be

If you just need mpv to be called by another app, you can safely use the standalone app from lachs0r. It's almost portable by design (apart from an empty folder in AppData). If captvty supports commandline arguments for the optional video target, you can configure mpv to your likes (the manual has a lot information about that). The paf-version of mpv is merely a wrapper for it to be found and identified correctly by the PA.c menu and deletes the mpv folder in AppData if empty. In your usecase, it's not needed.
