Add ons

I am very pleased with Thunderbird portable. I have several hundred duplicate messages after a major email migration. I'm trying to download and use the "remove duplicate messages" add on. Does that add on work with portable? If so, how do I install it? Thank you - Marion

Install the Add-on This Way

I take it you are referring to this add-on: https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/remove-duplicate-...

Okay, so just download the add-on from the site to your machine - you will get a file that ends with the extension ".xpi". Then do the following:

In Thunderbird go (menu) Tools > Add-ons
Once the Add-ons Manager (tab) opens, in the left-most part of the window, click on the option titled Extensions.

When the Extensions page opens look for the "gearwheel" icon at the top of the page and click on it. From the list that drops down select Install Add-on From File... In the dialogue window that opens just point it to the [WhateverName].xpi file that you downloaded and Thunderbird should install the add-on for you from there -- likely it will ask you to confirm that you do want to install the add-on.

Hope this helps.

P.S. It does say on the Add-on download page that the add-on requires a restart (before it becomes functional) so, once installed, shutdown then re-launch Thunderbird.

Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.
