Error message when starting LibreOffice Writer

I get a JRE error when LibreOffice Writer Starts. (Actually, when any LibreOffice program starts)
Specifically, I get the error box shown below.

LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Advanced.
There is a box with an "OK" to click on

I have to click on the OK button in the box three times before it closes (it just pops up again). The programs work after I do that, but I suspect some compromised functionality.

Now comes the fun part.
I saw that I had a portable JavaPortableLauncher program in my PortableApps folder.

I installed the latest Java 64 into PortableApps (from the add apps selection on the PortableApps program launcher GUI. The Java64 showed up in the CommonFiles folder, along with some other programs. (Ghostscript, Java, Java64, JDK, Python31).
I then deleted the JavaPortableLauncher from the program folders in my portable apps folder (not the common folder). While this started when I was trying to open a file (an XML file actually) in LibreOffice Writer, but I get the JRE error whether I am opening a file or not and in all LibreOffice programs

So, to summarize, I get the "JRE is Defective" error message above when I open a LibreOffice program. I don't get it when I open AbiWord or Jarte.
It would be great if someone could suggest a way to solve this problem.
