Portable Linux

Sorry if in wrong place!

I have QEMU-Puppy and I thought we can update this concept to have a newer pup, maybe even forks? But I need it to boot natively and a VM.

DSL maybe?

DSL offer an embedded zip, I could make that portable, with PAF hopefully!

quemu

note that quemu operation alone is of no real use. You will need to install additional driver, they used to call it accelerator. This needs admin rights however, so portability is just partial.
Even with the accelerator, the use of the linux runing on quemu is rather theoretical. We had that number of times here before.

I got it to boot natively and in a vm, just older software, I am trying antix, basically like puppy but with a solid Debian base.

Boot on Metal! And data

Boot on Metal! And data transfer. Works on WINE, the actual windows dev machine I use is just a school PC, not allowed on site.

can you detail?

what exactly do you boot from and what image do you use?

I had long time small linux in various versions on usb stick, but could not find any use of it, as average PC was not able to handle it. Unless of course I had a boot media, this is then other story.

can you explain

what it will be?
Quemu, well this was always just on its own portable, however when it came to use it to run something like small linux distro, extra drivers needed.
So what you mean really by Quemu+metal?
Just running some OS with the help of qemu works for long time. I would be just interested what will be your project resulting in?

REAL HARDWARE AND QEMU!

Im not even joking, although once installed through paf you need to run a batch script to make the device bootable, although you lose 512 bytes of useable storage in the process for the mbr

what hardware?

some stick to become bootable and qemu then on it? what exactly should be the use thereafter? Just curious, as I did not understand what you are after.

I'm going for an OS that can run in QEMU and on real hardware after a script is run. Data and apps should work between these two instances as they are the same install. Similar to http://www.erikveen.dds.nl/qemupuppy/
I ran it on an Acer Aspire ES1-533 and E1-533. It also runs in virtualbox from an iso of my drive.
