The bookmarks and history system will not be functional

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has came across this issue with portable firefox? I recently got a new USB 3 meory stick and installed Portableapps. With this I installed Portable Firefox. However upon laucnhing firefox I get a message stating that my history and bookmarks will not work. The error being "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" I click on learn more and followed all the troubleshooting steps but nothing worked...however One thing did work..something that isn't normal behaviour for a portable app like this I guess. This is that I created a new profile, no luck, although I created another new profile and stored this profile locally on my system not on the USB drive. For some reason using a profile stored locally on my hard drive removed this error "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" and bookmarks and history were working. I tried to move the profile back to being stored on the USB and the "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" Error came back...

Is anyon else experiencing this? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I've followed all the troubleshootng I can for this and nothing has worked. Not too sure what I can try next. In this state firefox portable is a bit useless for me :s

Drive Issue

If it works on one drive but not another, it's an issue with the drive. Generally it's either a permissions issue (be sure you've formatted just don't format NTFS on Windows XP), a hardware issue with the drive, or the drive is counterfeit.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Will try another drive

Hi!

Thanks for the response! I'll try and grab another drive and give it a go on there and see if it works or not. Also the drive is formatted in exFat. I thought it could be permissions at one point but didn't really see anything that would show whether it was or not, so I was unsure... Will let you know how it goes on another drive. (Also not sure if or why this would have an affect, it's a USB 3 drive).

Thanks!

Fixed!

I tried a another drive (The same brand, model and size etc) and it worked...no idea what was up with the other drive.

Thanks for the suggestion!
