Other Notes
- Contain only x32
- Cache support has been added. You can enable caching by copying GoogleEarthProPortable.ini (from \Other\Source) to your root folder (the folder where GoogleEarthProPortable.exe is in) and setting EnableCache=true
- *.kml and *.kmz file association has been added during the app startup
Thanks to Pyromaniac for the previous work on a Google Earth Portable project
Warning!!!
There is no version from Google called 'Rolling', it is called by me.
From v.7.3.1.4505 Google start to release the new versions with same filename.
In 'rolling' version the SHA-256 checking is disabled. This allows to download the latest v7.3.6.
In this case I can't guarantee that the next time you will get the current version 7.3.6.9345 and that is it will work or not.
Use it at your own risk!

I need help for the registry. On a computer with disabled UAC (Win7 Pro for example) the x64 version of Google Earth Pro leaves data in
HKLM\Software\Google\
that I can not clear\backup\handle or remove. There is no problem with the data inHKCU\Software\Google\
.If the UAC is enabled, the data is stored only in
HKCU\Software\Google\
and not inHKLM\Software\Google\
Another thing is with x32 version. With enabled or disabled UAC it store data only in
HKCU\Software\Google\
and when exit the app it create reg file fromHKLM\Software\Google\
I don't know where is the problem and how to solved it at now.
It could be due to UAC. HKLM requires admin rights. I'm not sure if turning off UAC automatically grants admin rights to processes or if they still need to ask for it. Since the launcher is not asking for admin rights, writes to HKLM would fail in that case. The only way around this would be to write custom code to detect that UAC is disabled and then get admin rights for the launcher process.
Note that we don't test anything we do for UAC being disabled. Apps, tools, platform, etc should work, but I can't speak to it either way and we're unlikely to ever specifically test for it.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
First time trying to install this (since they did away with panaramio and my old GE doesn't work). Getting a copy not valid error upon install after GEP seems to download a couple times. Went to Github and the version 7.3.0.3832_Dev_Test_1 installed but 7.3.1.4505 wouldn't. Where do we copy the GoogleEarthProPortable.ini file FROM to enable caching? Thanks
This is because from v7.3.1.4505 Google start to release the new versions with same filenames, i.e. v7.3.1.4505 and v7.3.1.4507 are released both with 'googleearthprowin-7.3.1.exe' filename. For v7.3.1.4505 the MD5 checksum is '82eeb52d1cff598c96f51db7cf34b05d' and for v7.3.1.4507 it is 'b2b90257e739a54548e152d1614e48d1'. The installer expect to get the '82eeb52d1cff598c96f51db7cf34b05d'. This is why it is downloaded but not installed.
To partially solve this problem, I remove the checking for MD5 sums, but this is a knife with two blades. In one case you can download all the googleearthprowin-7.3.1.exe filenames, but this can't guarantee that the installer will deal properly with the extracted files of the latest version. You can see for them in the source code. May be Google don't want to use the Earth as portable app, I don't know, I can only suppose. Another way is to repackeg, but this is against the rules and license agreement and I will not doing this. I hope you can understand all this drama.
For the chache support: the 'GoogleEarthProPortable.ini' is in the 'GoogleEarthProPortable\Other\Source' folder.

Hello there and thank you for the portable edition of GE,
Some monks want to use it near Mt. Olympus, where there is no good internet connection. They are interested in viewing countries like Israel, Greece, Russia etc. with Orthodox Christian interest. So, since there is no internet there but some hotspot from cellular phones etc., we are interested in caching maps of GE. I noticed google has 2gb size limit. Could you advice me if:
1) I could somehow change this to 50GB or some much bigger number
2) is there a way you can think or suggest to store in cache, in usb flash drives or whatever, big maps of ge, which they will be able to open offline.
Basically what we want is to have as much of GE maps OFFLINE as possible. Size is not an issue. Internet connection is.
Thank you and please please help me if you can
God blessings and best wishes
Thanks!
