Windows 10 Home 64-bit [Build: 10240]
PortableApps.com Platform 12.1
Installation Path: C:\Users\reinhold\Suites\PortableApps
I wanted to pin my favorite apps to the taskbar:
Firefox
Q-Dir
Notepad++
As it wasn't possible to pin the launchers (e.g PortableApps\Notepad++Portable\NotepadPortable.exe) directly, I created shortcuts to those programs on my desktop and pinned the shortcuts to the taskbar, this worked allright.
Now those pinned programs all show the same behaviour: Wenn I click on them, they start the programs allright, but they create a duplicate icon in the taskbar on the rightmost side.
This is quite confusing; I have searched the internet, and other programs do the same thing, it seems to be an incompatibility between Windows 10 and some Programs.
I have tested this behaviour by editing the properties of "Notepad" in C:\Users\reinhold\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar (this is where the system hides the Links to Programs that are pinned), and I could change the behaviour of the taskbar:
When I made the Link point to a "good" Program, there would be no duplicate icon, and when I changed it back to the PortableApps-Launcher, the behaviour would be set back to show the duplicate icon.
I think it has something to do with the launchers starting the "real" app, and the system does see this as a separate programm.
Any idea?
Greetings, Reinhold
Well, starting with PortableApps.com Version 16.0, you can now pin Programmes to the Taskbar.
This is just what I wanted!
The problem is solved!
Great work! Thank you!
